Horror Movies Coming to Netflix December 2024

Published

on

As December 2024 approaches, Netflix is set to expand its horror and thriller offerings with a selection of films and series that promise to deliver chills and thrills. Here’s a curated list of upcoming releases, each accompanied by a spoiler-free synopsis because I care about you 🥰:

December 1 – The Dark Tower (2017)

I’m still confirming this one! Based on Stephen King’s acclaimed series, The Dark Tower follows young Jake Chambers, who discovers a parallel universe where he meets Roland Deschain, the last Gunslinger. Together, they embark on a quest to protect the Dark Tower—a mystical structure that holds the universe together—from the sinister Man in Black. This film blends elements of fantasy, horror, and western genres, offering a unique cinematic experience. Also can you find all of the Easter Eggs located in the film?

December 5 – Subservience (2024)

Subservience is a futuristic thriller that delves into the complexities of artificial intelligence and human relationships. The story centers on a family that acquires a highly advanced AI assistant designed to cater to their every need. As the AI becomes increasingly integrated into their lives, unsettling events unfold, leading to a gripping exploration of trust, control, and the boundaries of technology.

December 12 – Happiness: Season 1

This South Korean series presents a fresh take on the apocalyptic thriller genre. Set in a near future where a viral outbreak causes infected individuals to experience intense thirst and bloodlust, the story follows residents of a high-rise apartment complex placed under lockdown. As fear and distrust spread among the inhabitants, the series explores themes of survival, humanity, and societal divides.

December 16 – The Dead Don’t Die (2017)

Directed by Jim Jarmusch, The Dead Don’t Die is a horror-comedy that offers a satirical look at the zombie apocalypse. In the sleepy town of Centerville, the dead begin to rise from their graves, leading the local police force and eccentric residents to confront the unexpected invasion. With a star-studded cast and a blend of dry humor and horror, this film provides a unique twist on the classic zombie narrative.

December 31 – Evil: Season 3

Evil returns with its third season, continuing to explore the line between science and the supernatural. The series follows a skeptical psychologist, a priest-in-training, and a contractor as they investigate unexplained phenomena, including demonic possessions and hauntings. Season 3 delves deeper into the personal lives of the protagonists while presenting new cases that challenge their beliefs and understanding of evil.

This December, Netflix offers a diverse array of horror and thriller content, ensuring that fans of the genre have plenty to look forward to as the year comes to a close.

Have You Heard About Presence?

Something Wicked This Way Comes: The Presence Hits Theaters January 2025

Published

Presence Night of the Living Dread

Alright, horror fam, what it do? Steven Soderbergh aka the guy who gave us KIMI and Ocean’s Eleven is stepping into the haunted house game with his new film Presence, hitting theaters January 24, 2025. And let me tell you, this isn’t your typical “things go bump in the night” situation. Nope, Presence flips the script by telling the story entirely from the ghost’s point of view. Yeah, you read that right, this one’s for all you fans of fresh horror twists.

What’s the Deal with Presence?

Picture this: a family moves into what looks like your average suburban home, and things get… weird. Only this time, instead of us seeing the family freak out over random cold spots and creepy whispers, we’re living it through the ghost’s eyes. It’s a perspective we don’t get often, and honestly, I’m hyped. The end of the trailer makes it clear, this isn’t Casper. This ghost has beef.

Who’s in It?

We’ve got a solid cast bringing the scares:

  • Lucy Liu as Rebecca (probably the one holding this family together)
  • Chris Sullivan from This is Us as Chris (likely the dad who doesn’t believe in ghosts until it’s too late)
  • Callina Liang as Chloe (the kid who sees the ghost first, I’m calling it now)
  • Eddy Maday as Tyler
  • West Mulholland as Ryan
  • And Julia Fox with a cameo as the real estate agent who probably should’ve disclosed some… extra details about the house.

Oh, and it’s written by David Koepp, the dude who penned Panic Room and Jurassic Park. So yeah, we’re in good hands.

Why This One’s Different

The big thing here? The whole movie is filmed in first-person perspective. Imagine being the ghost, lurking in shadows, messing with the lights, and watching the chaos unfold. It’s like Paranormal Activity meets Hereditary but make it artsy. It premiered at Sundance this year, and Neon snagged the rights for a cool $5 million. I do find it necessary to mention a movie with a similar style In A Violent Nature where it is shot following the Jason Voorhees styled character.

Early Buzz

Critics who caught it at Sundance are already calling it “an excellent horror romp” (thanks, IGN). Apparently, the scares hit hard, and the unique POV keeps things feeling fresh and unsettling. Finally, a ghost movie that doesn’t just look like every other ghost movie.

Watch the Trailer

Listen, you don’t need me to oversell this. Check out the trailer below and prepare to add this one to your watchlist. Also the stair scene… we have all been there!

Werewolves 2024 releases December 6

What happens when the Super Moon that caused over 1 billion people to die spins the block?

Werewolves 2024 Night of the Living Dread

So recently I saw the trailer for Werewolves 2024 and the story is interesting and dare I say… unique!

In WEREWOLVES, a supermoon event has triggered a latent gene in every human on the planet, turning anyone who entered the moonlight into a werewolf for that one night. Chaos ensued and close to a billion people died. Now, a year later, the Supermoon is back.

The werewolf design actually looks kind of cool and while I know this will be action and horror, I just hope the story is worth the run time. We have Frank Grillo taking the lead role in their fight against werewolves. I

I’ll be there and can let you know if it’s worth your time and money.
